Whole Hog Pumpkin Ale

I consider myself quite lucky to live within an hour of where this beer is brewed. Having access to it in plentiful amounts as soon as it hits the market each fall is most excellent.
Scent
Just amazing. This pumpkin ale smells like a homemade pumpkin pie. The typical heartwarming (to me, at least) array of fall spices is present: cinnamon, nutmeg, and pumpkin pie spice, along with a backdrop of pumpkin and sweet maltiness.
Taste
Get your taste buds ready, because you are in for one tasty beer. Pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, sweet caramel, and, I’m not sure if it’s my mind playing tricks on me via some sort of scent–taste–memory connection, but apple cider somehow.
Overall
This is easily the best pumpkin ale I’ve had, and it isn’t even close (also one of my favorite brews of any style). If you want a hearty, liquid slice of pumpkin pie, you’re in luck with Whole Hog’s Pumpkin Ale. What a treat to drink! Absolutely perfect for a cool fall evening. Edit: if you are looking for a good food pairing, I had this with an apple pork tenderloin over wild rice and it was phenomenal.
