Weltenburger Kloster Anno 1050

I picked this one up without having a clue what style it was, but it looked very German to me, and that is always a good thing. To my delight, I found out this was in one of my favorite styles: Oktoberfest/Märzen.
Scent
Very grassy and caramelly with a bit of yeastiness to it. Definitely has that “märzen” scent to it. Smells a lot like Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest to me.
Taste
This is a very good, albeit lighter tasting, Marzen style/Oktoberfest. It tastes like a lighter version of Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest, Left Hand Oktoberfest, or any of the really phenomenal and smooth Oktoberfests out there — and that’s a compliment. The flavor is very balanced and definitely in line with the Oktoberfest/Marzen style, just lighter.
Overall
This is one super drinkable and delicious beer. I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect out of it, but I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed this on a hot night in late May, and that may be the perfect occasion for it. It may be a little on the light side for an Oktoberfest in the fall, but when it’s 80 degrees out, it is absolutely perfect. This will be my go-to Oktoberfest for the warmer months.
