American Pale Wheat Ale 5.3% ABV

Sam Adams Summer Ale

Every summer, I look forward to enjoying a few cases of this beer. It’s been a summer staple of mine ever since selecting it as one of the beers on tap at my wedding.

Scent

I’d describe the scent of this beer as lemony, peppery, and wheat and/or yeast-dominated. There is a nice sharp aspect of the scent of this beer to the nose.

Taste

A little yeast, a little wheat, a strong burst of lemon zest, and a nice sweet, yet spicy finish thanks to the grains of paradise. Very refreshing and crisp, while almost creamy tasting.

Overall

I am a bigger fan of this beer than most I know who have tried it, and it appears the Internet consensus agrees with me on that fact. Though the spicy grains of paradise taste may not be for everyone, I really like what it adds to the beer. Not super light, not super heavy, and not overly fruity, this is a “just right” summer beer to enjoy on those hot days.
